Scott Lushing - Director of Sales
I began my career originally as a licensed real estate agent. I quickly realized that my interests and skills pulled me toward the financing piece because it dealt with my two favorite things – numbers and people. It became quite apparent that no matter how successful I was at pairing my clients up with the perfect home, without proper financing the deals would not close. The more I learned, the more I gravitated toward the mortgage industry. I can confidently say that I made the right choice. I have been a licensed mortgage loan originator for 12 years and have spent the past three years with Hamilton Group Funding.
What is the best part of my job you might ask? The answer is undoubtedly educating customers and realtors. This is by far where I get the most enjoyment in my career. All of my realtors and customers probably would attest to that. The average American purchases a total of three times in their lifetime. Therefore, they usually need to be educated or re-educated on the mortgage process. Specifically working with first time homebuyers is especially fulfilling, because they are completely new to the process. I like to explain in detail the type of loan options and why they qualify, or don’t qualify, for certain loans. It amazes me how many people don’t take even 15 minutes to learn about the potentially the largest investment/purchase in their lifetime, yet they will spend two weeks researching which new flat screen tv or cell phone to purchase. I feel it is my duty and privilege to educate.
One other thing you might like to learn about me is that I am a lover of animals. I have two dogs, Bandit and Rusty, both cockapoos, and a cat named Serenity. I used to not be a cat person but once I realized how much affection a cat has to offer, I quickly became fond. You can usually find me at a dog park on the weekend throwing the ball to my dogs or with them swimming at the beach.
Because I feel it is imperative to be well-rounded and not focus only on career, one other thing that I like to do is help others and give back to the community. Every 3 months I sponsor a blood drive and provide free BBQ (cooked by me!) to anyone that donates blood at my blood drive. I am very fortunate for so much in this lifetime while there are others with so little. This is a great way to help others. I also feed the homeless and volunteer. It is very humbling to see how appreciative people can be from something that I seem to not even think about, where my next meal is coming from.

I am of the firm belief that you can help others without first feeling good about yourself. As an avid golfer, I find joy in the little wins in life. I’ve only broken 80 one time in my life, but I do have to say that it was at my home course at Emerald Hills, in Hollywood, FL, and if you know that course, breaking 80 is quite a feat.
My wife, Ruth and I, have been married since 1989, raising two wonderful children. I am one of the fortunate people who have really found a true life partner, first as a young couple, then raising our children, and now alone again as they grow into adulthood. As I look back I can say that I we have had fun and enjoyed each stage of our lives together with no regrets about things we should have done as we look forward to the future.
Professionally, I have truly found my calling. In 1988, working as a finance executive, I was given the opportunity to take a chance and enter what was a relatively new industry in mortgage financing. The first year was tough, learning a new business, but at the end I have found myself as one of the very few people who love to come to work every day.
As a natural problem solver, I enjoy helping my each of my customers discover how to obtain homeownership and help them navigate through the home buying process. I still get thrill with each mortgage approval, as I get that feeling of satisfaction every time I see one of my customers realize that they too will have a home of their own and raise a family, creating their own memories to last a lifetime.

I’m a native Floridian so that is pretty rare. I was born and raised in Boca Raton. I left South Florida for 4 years while I attended Florida State University in Tallahassee. I’ve wanted to be a Seminole for as far back as I can remember. Growing up in South Florida and being a Seminole fan was tough. Most of my friends were Miami Hurricane fans and we had way too many Wide Rights!
I graduated from Florida State in 2000 with a degree in Finance and I went to work for Wal-Mart as an Assistant Store Manager. I quickly learned that walking around Wal-Mart for 55 hours a week wasn’t my cup of tea. I joined Bank of America in October of 2000 and spent the next 9 years of my career with them. I started at Bank of America as a Personal Banker and mortgages were one of many of my job duties but I excelled in that arena and quickly gravitated in that direction. I was promoted to a Mortgage Market Manager in 2003 and was in charge of training and development for over 80 sales people in North Broward. In 2005 I migrated over to the individual sales side and became a Mortgage Origination Loan Officer. I enjoyed tremendous success and was named to both the Platinum Club and Chairman’s Club which was reserved for the top 5% of loan officers nationally. I’ve been in the mortgage game ever since and I truly love what I do!
More important than my profession is my family. I met my wife, Jolynn, at Florida State my senior year and we’ve been together ever since. We’ve been together for 12 years now and we now have 2 amazing children. My son Jayden is 3 and is so much like me. My daughter, Madison, turned 1 in June and looks just like me (sorry Madison) but acts just like my wife (uh-oh). I spend almost every free minute with them and truly enjoy taking in every minute. I know they are growing up way too fast.
For hobbies I enjoy fishing with my Dad, vacationing with the family, and hitting the gym. I keep trying to get my college body back but that is an uphill battle. ?
As part of the CloseWithUs Team I’ve been able to spend a good majority of my time in what I truly enjoy and that is marketing and coaching. My passions are training, coaching, mentoring, and marketing and this new role with the CloseWithUs Team affords me the opportunity to do all of these. I couldn’t be happier!
